CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A winter weather advisory remains in effect for southeast Wyoming, including Cheyenne, until noon today, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. Strong winds, snow showers and blowing snow are creating challenging conditions for travelers, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph.

Light to moderate snow showers are expected to continue through mid-morning, bringing up to an additional inch of accumulation in some areas.

These conditions, combined with widespread wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph, are reducing visibility and causing snow to drift across roads. The hazardous weather is impacting both Interstate 80 and Interstate 25 corridors, with travelers advised to slow down and use caution.

Snowfall is tapering off as the morning progresses, but the strong winds are expected to persist into the afternoon. Temperatures will remain below freezing today, with highs in the 20s and windchill values in the single digits to teens. Another round of snow showers will move into the area late Friday through early Sunday, and high winds are likely to return to wind-prone areas, further complicating travel conditions.

The upcoming weekend is expected to remain active, with colder temperatures and another chance of snow showers and strong winds. Winds could gust as high as 75 mph in areas like Arlington and Bordeaux starting Friday morning, prompting high wind watches for parts of southeast Wyoming.
