CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Strong winds will impact Cheyenne from Friday evening through Saturday afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has accordingly issued a high wind watch for central Laramie County.

West winds between 20 and 30 mph will strengthen overnight, bringing hazardous conditions for lightweight and high-profile vehicles, including campers and tractor-trailers. The strongest winds are expected late Friday night into early Saturday morning.

The NWS in Cheyenne warns that sustained winds of at least 40 mph or gusts over 58 mph may occur. Forecasters advise monitoring updates as conditions develop.

In addition to strong winds, a winter storm watch is in effect for the Sierra Madre and Snowy ranges from Saturday morning through Sunday. Heavy snow and continued windy conditions could impact travel in higher elevations.

Mild temperatures will persist despite the wind. Highs are expected to reach the 50s to low 60s in Cheyenne through Saturday. Winds will likely ease Saturday afternoon but could return to some areas Saturday night.
