CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Gusty winds will persist across southeast Wyoming early this week, with high temperatures varying due to a shifting front.

A weak frontal boundary is pushing southward through the region, leading to a broad temperature range. According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, temperatures Monday morning ranged from the low 20s in Chadron to the 50s in Cheyenne. The front will shift winds from west to north, limiting the strongest winds from reaching the surface. As a result, high wind warnings will expire as scheduled. However, windy conditions will continue, especially in wind-prone areas.

Cheyenne is expected to remain on the warmer side of the front Monday, while areas farther north could see high temperatures stay below freezing. Breezy conditions will persist into Tuesday, with a shift to southerly winds as a ridge moves in.

Light snow showers are possible in the Sierra Madres and Snowy Range, but dry conditions will dominate elsewhere.

By midweek, another high-wind event is possible Wednesday as strong upper-level winds mix down. Winds are expected to peak during the day before easing by evening. Warm, downsloping winds will push high temperatures into the 50s and 60s before cooling through the weekend. A stronger front could bring colder temperatures and light snowfall to the region by Saturday.
