CASPER, Wyo. — Hundreds have gathered at David Street Station for a march in protest of the killing of George Floyd, who died after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck and back for several minutes.

The march was set to begin at 12 pm Wednesday, June 3. A march organizer told the group that they had communicated with Floyd’s uncle through “familial ties,” according to reporters on scene.

The organizer said that Floyd’s uncle requested that demonstrators remain silent throughout the march.

“The silence was poignant,” he said.

A 15 year old girl who said her name was Misha later led “I can’t breathe” chants.

“Use your privilege and speak for us,” she said at the conclusion of her speech.

Oil City will provide more coverage as further information about Wednesday’s march becomes available.
