CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Wyoming inmate James Ray Jones died on Friday, September 17 while incarcerated at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institute in Torrington, according to the Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC).
Jones had been “battling a lengthy illness” prior to his death, according to the WDOC. The department said that an autopsy will be conducted to determine an official cause of death.
Jones had been serving a 3-6 year sentence after being convicted of his fourth Driving Under the Influence of alchohol offense in Sweetwater County on June 22, 2017. His sentence was handed down by District Court Judge Richard Lavery.

Jones was born on April 27, 1956 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
