CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Health’s Office of Rural Health is inviting residents to share pictures of life in Wyoming for a National Rural Health Day photo contest. Rural Health Day is Thursday, Nov. 17.

Prizes will be available in the state-level competition in two categories: “People, Places and Things” and “Landscape and Wildlife.” The prize for first-place photos will be $100, with $50 prizes for second-place winners, according to the WDH.

The WDH Office of Rural Health and Frontier Health staff will judge photo entries for “creativity, originality, photo quality, how well images communicate the concept of rural health and overall appeal,” the WDH said in a press release Thursday. The WDH may use winning photos on its website and in future publications and correspondence.

The deadline to submit photos for the contest is Wednesday, Oct. 30. People wanting to participate can send a high-resolution version of their own photo to Sharon.Weber@wyo.gov. Photos can be submitted in .jpeg, .gif or .tif format. People should include their name, email address and phone number as well as a caption of their photo when submitting.
