CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming Wildlife Magazine’s annual photo contest is open and accepting submissions from photographers of any age and skill level, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department said on Tuesday.
Winning entries will get published in the February 2023 photo issue of Wyoming Wildlife, which is published by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
The grand prize winner will also get $600 and a $350 voucher to have Artizen Photo Printing of Cheyenne print their photo on a gallery mount. There are also prizes for first, second, and third place and honorable mentions in all categories in the contest, according to Game and Fish.
Categories include:
• Wildlife: Wild mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and arthropods. Priority will be given to species managed by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
• Scenic: Landmarks, scenery or inanimate objects are prominent.
• Recreation: People enjoying the outdoors through hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking, etc. Priority will be given to those activities that contribute to the Game and Fish’s mission of “conserving wildlife, serving people.”
• Flora: Wildflowers, foliage, fruiting bodies or other parts of plants. Wyoming Game and Fish
“The photo contest provides a great opportunity for photographers of all skill levels to submit their work to Wyoming Wildlife magazine,” Tracie Binkerd, magazine editor, said in the announcement. “Each year the judges are blown away by the phenomenal photos captured from all over the state.”
Entries are due by midnight Nov. 14. People can submit up to 10 photos across the different categories. Photos must have been taken in Wyoming and can’t have been previously printed or taken on assignment for Wyoming Wildlife Magazine, Game and Fish said.
