CASPER, Wyo. — Yellowstone National Park’s West, South and East Entrances will close to regular traffic on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
Most roads in the park will also close to regular traffic on Tuesday as Yellowstone prepares for winter. Snowmobile and snow coach travel will begin Dec. 15, Yellowstone Public Affairs said in a news release.
The following park roads will be closed starting on Tuesday, Nov. 1:
- Mammoth Hot Springs to Norris
- Norris to Canyon Village
- Canyon Village to Lake Village
- East Entrance to Lake Village (Sylvan Pass)
- Lake Village to West Thumb
- South Entrance to West Thumb
- West Thumb to Old Faithful (Craig Pass)
- Old Faithful to Madison
- West Entrance to Madison
- Madison to Norris
- Tower Junction to Canyon Junction (Dunraven Pass) (closed for the season on Oct. 21 due to inclement weather)
While the West, South and East Entrances are preparing to close, the road from the North Entrance to Mammoth Hot Springs will open to regular traffic no later than Tuesday, according to Yellowstone Public Affairs. That road has been closed since historic summer flooding.
The roads between the North and Northeast Entrance will be open year-round. The road from Tower Junction to the Northeast Entrance reopened on Oct. 15, the release noted.
If people are planning to drive in Yellowstone this fall or winter, Yellowstone Public Affairs provided a list of preparation and safety advice:
