CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s new Cody Region Office building, 2 Tilden Trail, is set to open for business at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7.
The new facility was built for approximately $9.6 million within the budget allocated for it, Game and Fish said on Thursday. The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission planned for the project and reserved money for it. No General Fund dollars from the State of Wyoming were used for the project and no debt was incurred.
The new Cody Region Office building has an ADA-compliant meeting room, an aquatic invasive species check station, a wildlife check-in area and more parking space than Game and Fish’s current Cody office at 2820 Highway 120.
“The new office provides a better space for us to work with the public to address wildlife management challenges like chronic wasting disease and the threat of aquatic invasive species,” Dan Smith, Cody Region wildlife supervisor, said. “The wildlife check-in area, for example, gives us space to take biological samples that are critical to the management and health of wildlife herds, and the integrated AIS check station provides a convenient and efficient means for boaters to get watercraft inspected.
Game and Fish is organizing an open house event for the new Cody Region Office building for Wednesday, Nov. 16.
Until the new building opens on Monday, Nov. 7, Game and Fish will be conducting business at its current Cody Region Office until 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4.
