Crashes, black ice impacting highways across Wyoming; chain law in effect near South Pass, Powder River Pass

CASPER, Wyo. — With snow falling across much of the Equality State, the Wyoming Department of Transportation is reporting some hazardous conditions on a number of highways on Thursday morning.

Black ice advisories are in effect on Interstate 80 between the Wamsutter area and the Lyman area as of 8:15 a.m. Thursday, according to WYDOT. WYDOT is also reporting a crash on I-80 at milepost 54 between Lyman and Granger that is blocking the left westbound travel lane. Drivers are advised to be prepared for delays.

In northeast Wyoming, U.S. Highway 212 is closed between the Montana and South Dakota state lines due to a crash, according to WYDOT.

A black ice advisory and Chain Law – Level 1 are in effect on Wyoming Highway 28 near South Pass. Chain Law – Level 1 is also in effect on U.S. 16 over Powder River Pass.
