Jim Gates claimed the top spot for Best Recreation Photo for a special time-lapse on BLM land in the Absaroka Mountains. The picture captures a relaxing dinner moment for himself and his wife, Jane, the BLM says.

Lisa Marks won first place in the Wildlife Category for a picture depicting a juvenile vesper sparrow at the Windy Flats Community Pit, a location that was reclaimed by the Cody Field Office in 2017 because of its proximity to an active sage grouse lek, according to the BLM.
