Forest Service recruiting for entry-level wildland firefighter positions

Recruiting events across Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska will take place through the month of March.

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Fifty entry-level positions battling fires are open in parks across the region, the Rocky Mountain Region of the USDA Forest Service announced in a press release on Thursday.

Recruiting events across Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska will take place, with in-person events occurring through the month of March and one virtual event occurring on March 6 at 3 p.m. MT.

The events give applicants the opportunity to meet current firefighters, learn about employment benefits and get assistance with applications, the Forest Service said.

Shoshone National Forest

  • Friday, March 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wapiti District Office, 203A Yellowstone Ave., Cody

Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland

  • Tuesday, March 5 from noon to 5 p.m.; University of Wyoming Student Union, 1000 E. University Ave., Laramie
  • Tuesday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Converse County Library, 300 E. Walnut St., Douglas

Black Hills National Forest

  • Wednesday, March 6 from 3 to 6 p.m.; Northern Hills District Office, 2014 N. Main St., Spearfish, South Dakota
  • Thursday, March 7 from 1 to 5 p.m.; Mystic District Office, 8221 Mount Rushmore Road, Rapid City, South Dakota
