Wyoming House pass ‘firearm regulation’ banning gun buyback programs

CASPER, Wyo. — Wyoming House Bill 0028 will move to the Wyoming Senate after the House of Representatives passed the bill on third reading on a vote of 55-4.

“No city, town, county, political subdivision, state agency or entity or any other governmental entity shall operate a firearm buyback program or participate in the implementation, administration or operation of a firearm buyback program,” the propsed bill states.

The Tuesday, Feb. 18 third reading vote came as part of a consent list vote. The House voted on the bill as follows:

The bill aims to ban firearm buyback programs in Wyoming. The proposed legislation says that firearm buyback programs attempt to “reduce the number of firearms, firearm accessories or ammunition owned by members of the public through the purchase of privately owned firearms, firearm accessories or ammunition.”
