CASPER, Wyo. — A bill to allow microbreweries to make malt beverages at multiple locations is moving in the Wyoming House of Representatives.

Under current Wyoming law, someone holding a microbrewery license is required to produce all of their malt beverages at a single location.

The House passed  House Bill 158 on second reading during their Tuesday, Feb. 25 floor session. If the House passes the bill on one further reading, it would move to the Senate for consideration.

“A microbrewery operating at more than one (1) location in an incorporated town shall be considered one (1) microbrewery,” the proposed legislation states. “The local licensing authority may require the payment of an additional permit fee not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00) regardless of the number of locations authorized for the microbrewery.”

Under state law, microbreweries are required to produce at least 50 barrels of malt beverage in a year, but not more than 50,000. Current rules require this production be completed at a single location.

The proposal would allow microbreweries to meet these requirements by brewing at multiple locations.
