United States Senator John Barrasso says that Republicans “will be impartial” in the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.

Barrasso doesn’t think any more witnesses need to be heard from in the proceedings. He says that Democrats claim in their impeachment brief “that evidence against President Trump is overwhelming.”

“If that were true, why do Democrats now claim the Senate needs to hear from more witnesses?” Barrasso said on Facebook.

According to the Associated Press, the Senate passed a resolution on Wednesday “by a party line vote” which will allow witnesses to be called “only after both sides in the impeachment trial present their cases.”

Barrasso further attempted to portray Republicans as objective and Democrats as partisan.

“House Democrats’ process was a cover-up,” Barrasso said. “Ours will be transparent. Their process was blindly partisan. Ours will be impartial. Their process was rigged. Ours will be fair.”
