LARAMIE, Wyo. — The start of the 2023–24 Wyoming Cowboys football season is just days away, with the Pokes set to take on Texas Tech on Sept. 2.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on CBS.

Wyoming enters the season with 17 returning starters, including 10 of 11 returning starters on defense. Texas Tech is also a veteran-laden squad, as the Red Raiders return 17 starters, including 10 on offense and six on defense.

Led by linebacker Easton Gibbs, the UW defense is projected to be one of the best defensive units in the Mountain West.

Wyoming finished last season with a 7–6 overall record and a 5–3 conference record, ultimately finishing second in the Mountain West Conference Mountain Division. The season culminated in the Pokes’ fifth bowl game appearance in the past seven years.

Texas Tech enters the 2023 season ranked No. 24 in the nation in the Preseason USA Today/Coaches Poll.
