CASPER, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management Wyoming said on Thursday, Aug. 6 that the week has been busy for firefighters in the BLM’s Wind River/Bighorn Basin District.

“BLM and county firefighters have provided initial attack on more than 20 starts in the district,” the BLM Wyoming said.

BLM Assistant Fire Management Officer Brian Cresto added: “I’m super-proud of the work our engine crews are doing and always appreciative of the response from local volunteer fire departments, who are often the first to arrive on the scene.”

The BLM reminded people that a Red Flag Warning is in effect across much of southern Wyoming on Thursday.

“With hot temperatures, dry fuels and strong, gusty winds throughout the state, please do your part to prevent human-caused wildfires, which can start easily and spread quickly under these conditions,” BLM Wyoming added. “As a reminder, Stage 1 fire restrictions are in effect throughout Wyoming: http://ow.ly/S7ha50ASFqh.”
