Fox Creek and Woods Landing added to Carbon County evacuation order

CASPER, Wyo — The Albany County Sheriff’s Office added Woods Landing and Fox Creek road to a list of areas now under mandatory evacuation due to the Mullen Fire burning in the Medicine Bow National Forest.

The order is given in conjunction with Rocky Mountain Blue Team Incident Command on the Mullen Fire and the Albany County Emergency Management Agency.

As of Saturday morning, 9-26-2020, two roads are closed near the Mullen Fire, according the latest information on the Incident Management team’s regularly updated page.

  • Wyoming 11 between Wyoming 130 and Albany
  • Wyoming 230 between Woods Landing and Colorado state line

There is no estimate on when these roads might reopen. Mandatory evacuations now include:

  • The Woods Landing Corridor
  • Fox Creek Road including areas west of Hwy 11 south of the Middle Fork Canyon
  • Fox Park
  • Foxborough
  • Albany
  • Middle Fork Canyon

“Critical fire weather conditions will develop Saturday afternoon along the Cheyenne Ridge from Cheyenne to Sidney where minimum humidities will drop into the lower teens.” A cold front is bringing strong winds to the area, the National Weather Service said.
