Wyoming has always been home. I was raised on a ranch near Rawlins, where I learned the values of hard work, personal responsibility, and serving my neighbors. Those lessons have guided my life—from public service to military service—and they’re the reason I’m running to become Wyoming’s next Secretary of State.

My name is Charles “CJ” Young, and throughout my career I’ve been fortunate to serve Wyoming in a variety of roles. I previously served as Wyoming’s Elections Director, helping administer elections and working alongside county clerks across our state. I’ve also owned a Wyoming small business, served as the Military and Veterans Liaison for Wyoming’s congressional delegation, and today continue serving our nation as a U.S. Navy Reserve intelligence officer.

Those experiences have given me a unique understanding of the responsibilities of the Secretary of State’s office. It isn’t a position about making headlines. It’s about ensuring elections are secure, helping Wyoming businesses succeed, protecting important state records, and serving the people of Wyoming with professionalism and integrity.

As Secretary of State, my priorities are straightforward.

I want to continue strengthening election integrity so voting remains easy for eligible citizens and difficult to abuse. I believe county clerks are among the hardest-working public servants in Wyoming, and they deserve a partner in Cheyenne who listens, supports them, and provides the tools they need to serve their communities.

I also want to modernize the Business Division so entrepreneurs and small businesses can work more efficiently with state government. Wyoming has earned a reputation as one of the best states in America to start and grow a business, and we should continue building on that success.

Finally, cybersecurity must remain a top priority. As technology continues to evolve, so do the threats facing elections, businesses, and government records. Protecting Wyoming’s systems from foreign adversaries and criminal organizations requires experience, preparation, and a commitment to staying ahead of emerging risks.

Throughout this campaign, I’ve traveled across Wyoming meeting with voters, listening to their concerns, and discussing practical solutions. While we may not agree on every issue, I believe we all benefit from honest leadership, transparency, and public officials who remember they work for the people.
